Since the release of the national medium and long-term plan for the hydrogen energy industry in March last year, China's hydrogen energy industry has pressed the fast forward button, and the landing of hydrogen energy pilot demonstration projects has accelerated. Various regions have achieved significant results in accelerating industrial layout. This is a message from the 2023 China Hydrogen Industry Conference held in Foshan, Guangdong on November 7th.

Ren Zhongbao, Deputy Director of the High Technology Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that the Commission, together with relevant departments, has actively promoted the development of the hydrogen energy industry and achieved positive results. On the supply side, there are 92 renewable energy projects under construction and completed nationwide, with an annual production capacity of over 700000 tons. At the transportation end, more than 380 hydrogen refueling stations have been built, covering 29 provinces. New models such as hydrogen production and refueling integrated stations, oil, electricity, and hydrogen comprehensive stations within the stations have begun to be demonstrated. On the application side, more than 15000 fuel cell vehicles have been promoted in China, and new types of transportation vehicles such as hydrogen powered locomotives, ships, and airplanes are gradually being piloted. New scenarios, models, and formats such as hydrogen electric fusion renewable energy supply stations and green hydrogen chemical industry are accelerating to emerge.
The overall development trend of China's hydrogen energy industry is good, with steady technological advancements in production, storage, transmission, and utilization. As of the end of September, China has planned and constructed over 400 renewable energy hydrogen production projects, and 120 ongoing projects have a total production capacity of over 900000 tons per year. In terms of hydrogen refueling, the cumulative number of hydrogen refueling stations has been built, ranking first in the world. In terms of diversified applications, China has become the world's largest fuel cell commercial vehicle Production and application markets. " Bian Guangqi, Deputy Director of the Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment Department of the National Energy Administration, emphasized that in the future, the National Energy Administration will strengthen top-level design, promote key technology and equipment research, explore efficient utilization in multiple scenarios, establish a sound standardization system, and actively promote the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
The meeting revealed that by 2025, the planned green hydrogen project production capacity in the northwest region will reach 700000 tons, and the planned green hydrogen production capacity in 10 provinces will reach 1.04 million tons. In August this year, the Sinopec Xinjiang Kuche 20000 tons/year green hydrogen demonstration project was fully completed and put into operation, marking a breakthrough in China's scale and industrial application of green hydrogen.
Jing Chunmei, Minister and Researcher of the Research and Information Department of the China International Economic Exchange Center, stated that although green hydrogen has accelerated its development in China, the proportion of global green hydrogen in the total hydrogen energy is currently less than 1%. According to the IEA prediction, the proportion of green hydrogen will reach 85% by 2050, with huge demand and broad prospects. Along the "the Belt and Road", 85% of the world's countries that have released hydrogen energy strategies are gathered, which is an important basis for China's foreign cooperation in hydrogen energy. In the future, we should continue to improve the top-level design of hydrogen energy domestically, strengthen core technology research and development, and reduce storage and transportation shortcomings; We need to strengthen international cooperation and participate in the formulation of international standards, so that more countries can share the achievements of hydrogen energy innovation and application.
Zhang Xiaoqiang, Executive Vice Chairman and Director of the Executive Bureau of the China International Economic Exchange Center, stated that China's hydrogen production is currently about 34 million tons, accounting for one-third of the world's total production, but more than 30 million tons of it are gray hydrogen. If gray hydrogen can be converted to green hydrogen, it will provide a huge scenario for the entire application of green hydrogen. To promote the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy industry, we should adhere to the green and low-carbon direction; We also need to attach great importance to the effective utilization of green electricity and green hydrogen, and play their role in the construction of new energy systems and ensuring the stable operation of the power system. At the same time, efforts should be made to tackle key core technologies, actively expand the large-scale application of green hydrogen in the industrial field, accelerate the reduction of green hydrogen costs, and promote the transformation of gray hydrogen to green in industries such as petrochemicals. The government should
